Ngāti Tama is promoting the vaccination of whānau with our 10-week competition. We are asking whānau to show us they have received the COVID-19 vaccine to go into a weekly draw to win amazing Tama prizes. Entries will be entered into each week, giving whānau more chances to win.

  2. Upload a photo of your Vaccine Record Card, or photo or video of you in the clinic receiving your vaccine
  3. Tell us why you decided to get the vaccine
  4. You are in the weekly draw to win

Ngāti Tama support for whānau

Ngāti Tama Trustees have updated the “Covid Recovery and Response Plan” to provide additional support to whānau during this time of Covid-Delta. Whānau can now apply for one of two support streams through our Ngāti Tama App; either a $200 kai pack or a $200 grant. These are available to all registered Ngāti Tama members, 18 years and older.

We are currently taking applications through our secure, online app and will be calling our pāhake and whānau without an email sometime next week. We encourage all whānau to use our secure online portal and email whanau@ngati-tama.iwi.nz if you have trouble signing in.

Order a Kai Pack OR apply for a Relief Payment

$200 kai pack delivered to your home
  • Tell us the number of whānau members in your whare/home
  • Confirm delivery address for your kai pack
$200 COVID-19 Delta relief payment
  • Confirm your bank account information. Verification via photo of a bank statement or screenshot of online banking.
  • Whānau who applied through the app for the 2020 Covid Relief payment will still have their banking information saved on our file, you will still need to verify this information.

Energy Grant

This Grant is closed for 2021 and will reopen in May 2022

Ngāti Tama Trustees approved an energy grant payment of $100 per household to support whānau through winter.
To apply, email whanau@ngati-tama.iwi.nz with your energy bill (power or gas). Ngāti Tama will credit $100 direct to your energy provider account. Please check that the bill shows address, account number and ICP number. Please note that the payment is one per household, and for households who have not already received firewood.

Covid-19 Relief Grant

If you are experiencing hardship due to loss of income because of Covid-19 then we may be able to support you with a financial grant under our Covid-19 Relief Grant.

Access to food and essential items

Talk to your family, whānau, friends and neighbours to see if they could deliver essential items to you.

Try food delivery such as supermarket home delivery, food parcels, frozen pre-prepared meals, subscription food boxes (like My Food Bag and Hello Fresh) or any other whole-food delivery service.

If you need food urgently, your local foodbank may be able to help.

Support for whānau

Whānau Ora helps whānau access health and welfare services, and meet basic needs for food, accommodation, heating, internet connectivity, water and sewerage.

Financial support

There may be support available for employers, employees and those who have lost their job or had their income reduced, or assistance to buy food.

Visit the Work and Income website for urgent financial support and ongoing needs. You can apply for a main benefit online and check your eligibility for food assistance.

Business Advice

A free COVID-19 business helpline service is available for all New Zealand businesses. This includes sole traders.

Get support and advice on:

  • government financial support, for example Wage Subsidy Scheme and Resurgence Support Payment
  • what different Alert Levels mean for your business
  • business continuity
  • finding free or subsidised expert help, for example a business mentor or advisor.

Employers can also get specific advice on people challenges, including staffing changes, employee wellness, and meeting your health and safety obligations.

Addiction Support

The Alcohol Drug Helpline offers free support if you have concerns about your drinking and drug use, or  someone else’s. A trained counsellor is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Child Safty

Call Oranga Tamariki if a child or young person is unsafe, not being cared for, or separated from their parents or caregivers.
