This FREE event celebrates Te Ao Māori and offers a range of Māori Arts and Crafts, food and other products. Experience the friendly whānau atmosphere, eat some kai (food), enjoy the free, live entertainment, and see waka ama in action on the Maitai River. Nau mai, haere mai!

This event is held under the korowai of the “Economic Pou group” with sponsorship and support for this event from Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Kuia, Ngāti Tama, Ngāti Toa Rangatira, Te Puni Kokiri, Ministry of Social Development, Nelson City Council and Te Putahitanga o Te Waipounamu.

Makete Po celebrates small to medium sized whānau hapu iwi enterprises and providing an opportunity to showcase your products and talent to the general public. It’s about Te Ao Māori, It’s all about whānau. It’s about community.

Our summer Makete Po Night Markets for 2020 will be on 28 February 2020 at Washbourn Gardens, Richmond.

The Makete Po Night Market is alcohol and smoke free.
