With the coronavirus (COVID19) continuing to spread in Aotearoa, Ngāti Tama ki Te Waipounamu Trust have introduced new protocols to help keep our staff, offices and visitors safe.

Refrain from entering our office at 74 Waimea Rd if you have:

  • If you enter and present any ‘flu’ like symptoms, please do not be offended if a member of staff asks you to leave the premises. Where possible, call ahead on (03) 548 1740 to discuss your visit.Other ‘flu’ like symptoms i.e. nasal congestion, runny nose, nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhoea
  • Been in contact with anyone who has been in close contact with someone confirmed with coronavirus (COVID-19)

When entering the premises please make use of the Hand Sanitizer available at the front door and meeting rooms.

Ngāti Tama have placed a hold on the following cultural practices:

  • Hongi
  • Personal contact, including handshaking, kissing, hugging
  • Sharing of cups and common foods

The purpose of hongi is to be of one breath and be of one mind. While this tends to happen through a physical connection, the feeling is often more of a spiritual connection. In saying that, a spiritual connection can be felt without physical contact.

We appreciate your consideration at this time.
