NOTICE OF ELECTION OF TRUSTEES, CALLING FOR NOMINATIONS

& ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

for NGĀTI TAMA KI TE WAIPOUNAMU TRUST

Under the Ngāti Tama ki Te Waipounamu Trust Deed of Trust, notice is hereby given that an election will be held for two (2) General Trustees for the Ngāti Tama ki Te Waipounamu Trust.
The election will be held under the First Past the Post electoral system, by postal and online voting.

NOMINATIONS
To be eligible for nomination and election as a Trustee a candidate must (as per clause 6.2 of the Deed of Trust):

(a) be a Registered Adult Member residing within New Zealand;
(b) not be disqualified by reason of any matters referred to in clauses 6.4(c) to 6.4(g) (see nomination form);
(c) not have resigned from the position of Trustee in the three (3) years prior to the date of the notice calling for nominations; and
(d) be able to demonstrate skills, knowledge, experience or achievements in one or more of the following areas: (i) te reo Māori; (ii) tikanga Māori; (iii) governance experience; (iv) business, financial or legal skills; (v) community service; or (vi) academic achievements.

All nominations must also (as per Schedule 4, paragraph 8 of the Deed of Trust):

(a) be on the proper nomination form, and specify the nominee’s full name, address and contact telephone number;
(b) include a declaration signed by the nominee that he or she fulfils the criteria for nomination and election as a Trustee under clause 6.2, and is not precluded from holding office as a Trustee by reason of any matters referred to in clauses 6.4(c) to 6.4(g);
(c) include a curriculum vitae or other document describing the candidate’s skills, knowledge, experience or achievements in one or more of the areas listed in clause 6.2(e); and
(d) include the written signature of both the candidate and the nominator.

Retiring Trustees are eligible for re-election.

• by phoning the Electoral Office on 0800 922 822

Candidates and nominators must be registered members of Ngāti Tama ki Te Waipounamu Trust, aged 18 years or over.
Nominations of candidates must be received at the Trust Office no later than 5pm, Friday 12 March 2021.
If there are more candidates than there are vacancies to be filled, an election will be held. The Trust will give further notice of any election required after the nomination period has closed.

Ngāti Tama ki Te Waipounamu Trust invites anyone who has not already registered, aged 18 years or over, and with the appropriate whakapapa to apply to be included on the Trust’s Members Register. Registration forms can be obtained from the Trust Office or online at www.ngati-tama.iwi.nz

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The 2021 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will commence at 2pm on Saturday 24 April 2021. The AGM will be held in Mohua, venue TBC. NAU MAI, HAERE MAI KI TE TAUTOKO!

Copies of all AGM documents will be sent from Friday 19 March 2021 to all Adult Registered Members of Ngāti Tama ki Te Waipounamu Trust with voting materials, and are also available online at www.ngati-tama.iwi.nz, by phoning (03) 548 1740 or from the Ngāti Tama ki Te Waipounamu Trust Office.
