How to work within the regulations
Prior to going customary fishing under the regulations, you must get an authorisation from your local Kaitiaki. You must obtain the authorisation in person.
Key things to remember with your authorisation:
- The permit must be kept in your possession at all times
- You must catch only those species specified on the authorisation
- Your catch is not to exceed the quantity specified
- It is only valid for the date and area specified
- You must report your catch back to the Kaitiaki within five days of fishing
