The Suter Art Gallery Te Aratoi o Whakatū with Ko Te Pouaranga / Iwi komiti support is seeking a curator/artist to develop a contemporary raranga exhibition at The Suter. The exhibition is scheduled for September – November 2021 to coincide with Te Mana Kuratahi.
The curator of this exhibition will have the support of The Suter to conceive and develop an exhibition with a strong focus on Te Tau Ihu iwi that will appeal to locals, as well as appealing to the visitors who will be attending Te Mana Kuratahi. Ideally the curator of this exhibition will have experience working with and/or exhibiting raranga and will have strong connections within Te Tau Ihu iwi.
The Suter is Nelson’s art gallery and is a venue for displaying historic and contemporary art and craft from across Aotearoa. This exhibition will be the beginning of a series of exhibitions that will highlight toi Māori over the coming years.
Expressions of interest close 14 December 2020.
We will be looking to select someone to begin this project in late January 2021.
